Go To
  • Crosses the Line Twice:
    • The film ends with a montage of every death in the series right before the credits roll. Set to AC/DC's "If You Want Blood (You Got It)".
    • Olivia's death. As if that wasn't bad enough, her good eyeball popped out of her head, completely intact. Until a random vehicle ran it over.
  • Germans Love David Hasselhoff: Domestically, this was the lowest-grossing Final Destination film, barely making back its budget and essentially finishing the series off. Its box-office take outside the US, however, is the second-highest out of the entire series, behind the fourth film by only about $4 million.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: P.J. Byrne as the flirty Issac Palmer makes a couple snide remarks about Chinese people in this movie prior to his death in an acupuncture spa which fire plays a part in. The next year, he began playing Bolin in an Asian themed production (The Legend of Korra), and he's a brother to a firebender and eventually learns to lavabend. Plus an acupuncture scene is in that show's third Book.
  • Jerkass Woobie:
    • Peter Friedkin has witnessed his girlfriend die in front of him and knows that Death is coming for him next, so he resorts to murder when he finds a way to cheat death by stealing someone else's life. In the end, he's killed by his best friend.
    • Olivia is a bit nasty to everyone but you're bound to feel a little sorry for her when she's going for the laser eye surgery and ends up holding a teddy bear to comfort herself.
  • Memetic Mutation:
    • Because of Miles Fisher's resemblance to Tom Cruise, many people have called his character, Peter Friedkin, Tom Cruise. The fact that he does a Tom Cruise-like stunt in the premonition scene (jumping from a collapsing road to a bridge railing hanging down), and the fact that Fisher portrayed Cruise in Superhero Movie makes it funnier.
    • Olivia losing her glasses in the premonition scene has made a lot of comparisons to Velma on the Internet.
  • Moral Event Horizon: Crossed by Peter when he kills Agent Block and goes after Molly in an attempt to snuff out any witnesses. It didn't help that she was his original mark after being convinced that she's the only one who'll live out of the survivors and that killing a person would give him their remaining days.
  • Narm:
    • Olivia's death in the premonition likewise becomes ridiculous as she survives the fall into the water... only for a car to tumble on top of her. Talk about overkill!
    • To some, the entire bridge collapse scene is hilarious.
  • Nausea Fuel: Dennis' death in the Premonition. He gets burnt by getting drenched by hot tar, and we also get to see his skin fall off from his hands.
  • Paranoia Fuel:
    • Candace practicing her footwork while there's a screw on the balance beam. She's literally hopping around it with no clue it's there.
    • Olivia losing her glasses during the bridge disaster and being Blind Without 'Em.
  • Realism-Induced Horror:
    • Candace's death because it's so mundane and yet so possible for anyone in a similar situation. So many potential dangers - a worn electrical cable, a stray screw someone could step on, a leak that could either make someone slip or react with the aforementioned cable, even the squeaking bars giving the impression they could come loose at any second. She's done in by the bowl of chalk dust distracting her of all things!
    • The bridge collapse depicted in the film is scary enough. What makes it one of the scariest things in the entire franchise however, is the fact that the bridge collapse depicted in the film happens in a realistic fashion with no Artistic License – Physics.
  • Special Effects Failure: Due to the 3D effects, the appliance used to simulate Peter getting rebars through his face in the opening disaster looks horribly fake.
  • Surprisingly Improved Sequel: While the previous sequels are of varying quality, this is generally regarded as one of the better sequels to come out, actually adding new mythology to the series (a feat not seen since the second film) and ending the series on a high note. It is also the best reviewed of the franchise, with the only "Fresh" rating in the series on Rotten Tomatoes.
  • Tear Jerker: The ending which consists of Sam, Molly and Nathan's deaths. Every other movie in the series featured a Hope Spot for the characters, but when that was taken away it was always played for Black Comedy. This time it's not, and it's honestly tragic: Sam slowly realizes that Alex had a premonition just like his, but the plane is already in the air and there's nothing he can do. Then Molly, who wasn't even supposed to die in the first place, is sucked out of the crumbling plane despite his best efforts and dies when she collides with the plane wing and is torn in half, and then he dies alone and screaming as he's engulfed in flames before the plane blows up. If that wasn't bad enough, the plane's landing gear ends up crushing Nathan to death who was attending a wake for the co-worker he accidentally killed leaving no survivors of the bridge collapse.
  • Visual Effects of Awesome:
    • The fifth film made great use of 3D.
    • The entire bridge collapse scene looks amazing, both in the premonition and in reality when everyone gets off.
